the whirlwind of december

This month has been a whirlwind. You can atest to it by my lack of entries in this blog.
It's not that I haven't had stuff to share, it's finding the time and the will to share some of the joys and sorrows of this very hectic month.
The month started out with a bang, with a vist from my mother-in-law and brother-in-law, which turned out to include a hospital stay for my brother-in-law.
During the month, Phoenix decided to become a graffiti artist, and he scribbled all over my bed sheets with a permanent marker, while Fabio slept thru it all, as I was taking Willik to school.
Jill borrowed our Jeep to help a friend move, one of the tires was slashed while in the middle of moving, she changed it to the spare, and spent the night one night, while returning the car. We still haven't had a chance to get a replacement tire.
We took Fabio's ffamily back to Philly and took the opportunity to leave the boys with my parents and enjoy a bit of a date, in which we decided to watch the Chronicles of Narnia. It was great! I want Willik to see it, and he was actually just asking me about it today, but I think some of the creatures might be a little scary for a 4-year old, so we will probably start by reading him the book, and see how he does with that.
Amidst all this, I attempted at Christmas shopping, but much of it with little success, as Phoenix loves to run away form us at the mall, and go behind large items, so chasing him is part for the course on any mall trip, and it's hard to look, much less shop.
Willik has had school throughout the month, of course, but as Fabio has been busy with his brother's hospital stay, Willik hasn't seen much of Fabio, and since he's been sporting an attitude lately, I've been bombarded by much of it, and refereeing the boys constant fights has been another of my passtimes this month.
Christmas came and went. With that, we've enjoyed a Christmas party at Graffiti for the kids, which was so much fun, with Theresa's choreography, and lots of dancing and puppets and gifts from NC.
And then on Sunday, the 18th, we had a blast during service, with the kids play, with my angelic Phoenix shouting "cheese" everytime I held up the camera(with church-wide laughter), and Willik "sheppherding" along with the big boys, was looking so grown up (refer to the pictures at the bottom of this entry...) Then the youth girls did a dance to the tune of RunDMC, which they choreographed themselves, and I was very proud, as some of them have been kids in my sunday school classes from when they were young!
Christmas eve was great at my parents with many presents exchanged, and the kids going to bed way too late.
Hurried morning on Christmas as we let them open one present, before heading off to church, which was great, because we had a wedding within the service for Bobby and Rita! Congratulations!!
After little sleep, the boys were exhausted, excited and cranky all at the same time, which didn't make for a very good combination as far as being on their best behavior, so after church we headed back home, where Willik and Phoenix had a long nap, and we packed for our little vacation.
Onto Philly we went later that day, to see grandmom, and open some more Christmas presents.
To bed again, and on Boxing Day, the boys opened the rest of their gifts, and actually played with a few, before we headed to Maryland, to see abuelo.
That's where I currently write from, as we finally get to rest a bit, if not from fighting boys, at least from the constant daily grind.
That, friends, is what I am enjoying about this stay here in Gaitherburg.
God is good, and he sent his Son, so that amidst the running around, the hardship and the fun, we can remember, that we have been given the best gift, life itself, and that is what enables us to do, and be and experiment all these emotions, and He cares for us, in all of it! Yay God! Thank you!!

Ha! You forgot to mention that Phoenix knocked down your parents' Christmas tree, breaking all kinds of ornaments! :)

It's been a crazy month.
